We aim to raise funds to pay for a qualified stonemason to help us rebuild the walls of the Tollhouse and building supplies.
We began digging out a Tollhouse in May 2021. It was knocked down in the early 1950s and disappeared into 70 years of vegetation. We are a group of around 10 volunteers who have managed to shift tonnes of earth by hand, over the last year with help from Cardiff Council Urban Park Rangers.
This is an image of the Tollhouse just before it was demolished;

When we started in May 2021only a few bricks could be seen;
On our first day we found the victorian tiles;

We carried on digging over the course of a few months;

We managed to clear one room before moving on the clear the whole footprint;

We have started to get help on rebuilding the walls but we need to make sure they are all built safely with professional help. We also need sand and cement.

This last image was taken in April 2022. We are at the stage that we can start to rebuild and make good the walls up to around 1.5 meters. We hope to make the building safe enough to have customers sit and drink coffee purchased from our mobile coffee shop. Our ambitious plans for the site require £3,000 to help pay for a professional stonemasons and building supplies. We hope to complete the project by the end of 2022.
