Meet Tommy, a brave feline who has endured more than his fair share of hardship at such a young age! Abandoned by those who should have cared, he was left to roam the streets for over a year when his owners moved away and left him to fend for himself, he has battled the elements, hunger and pain. His face bears the scars of his troubled past, a testament to his resilience! On hearing about Tommy’s hardship, the rescue team swooped in, our hearts heavy with empathy, promising him a better tomorrow. Tommy’s story had taken a swift turn but it is far from over!
Under our loving care, he received the urgent care he desperately needed. Parasite treatments eased his discomfort, and pain relief alleviated his suffering. The warmth of a soft bed replaced the cold pavement, and for the first time, Tommy knew safety. The team ordered X-rays after noticing he had a wide gait and difficulty walking. In a cruel twist of fate, the X-rays have revealed severe hip dysplasia. This painful condition affects his mobility, making every step a struggle. Without surgery, his quality of life will continue to deteriorate.
Tommy’s Surgery Details:
- Condition: Bilateral hip dysplasia
- Surgery: Femoral Head and Neck Excision (FHO). In this surgery, the deformed head and neck of the femur are removed. Over time, Tommy’s muscles will rebuild, forming a new “false” joint.
- Estimated surgery cost: Approximately £3,000+
- Surgery Date/s: To be confirmed.
- Additional costs: At least 16 weeks in care, food, litter, other medical needs not related to surgery ie vaccinations, neutering, parasite prevention etc.
