Welcome to Toddle Town
Toddle Town is a not-for-profit, community-owned indoor and outdoor play space and family hub coming to the heart of Coalville.
We believe every family deserves somewhere affordable, inclusive, reliable and welcoming to spend time together. That's why every decision we make is centred around people, not profit. Every penny we generate is reinvested into improving the space, supporting local families, creating new opportunities and keeping Toddle Town accessible for everyone.
This isn't just another play centre. It's a place built with purpose.
Toddle Town was created in response to a real need in our community for an affordable, inclusive space where children can play, parents and carers can connect, and families of all backgrounds feel welcome.
Where We Are Now
After months of planning, fundraising and working with local partners, we're incredibly excited to say that we now have the keys to our building and renovation work is about to begin!
The space is being transformed into something completely unique for our community, and every week brings us one step closer to opening our doors.
We're working alongside designers, local contractors and community organisations to create a space families can be proud of.
What We're Creating
Toddle Town has been designed to inspire children's imagination while giving parents somewhere they genuinely enjoy spending time.
Our plans include:
A welcoming café serving affordable, healthy food and drinks, giving parents and carers somewhere comfortable to relax, work or meet friends.
A fully immersive role play village inspired by Coalville's history and local landmarks, encouraging imaginative and educational play.
A unique interactive water play area offering exciting sensory learning through water play.
An adventure climbing and exploration zone for older children who love to challenge themselves.
A dedicated baby and toddler area designed especially for children aged 0–2 years to explore safely.
A state-of-the-art sensory room featuring interactive lighting, calming equipment and sensory experiences that support all children, including those with additional needs.
An exciting technology room where children can explore coding, innovation and interactive learning through play.
A safe, enclosed rooftop play space featuring a giant sandpit, climbing equipment and opportunities for active outdoor play.
A fully accessible building with a lift and accessible toilet, making Toddle Town welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
More Than Just Play
Outside of our daily opening hours, we'll also host community events, food festivals, family activities, group sessions, workshops, SEND groups, wellbeing sessions, seasonal celebrations and opportunities for local organisations to bring people together.
We want Toddle Town to become a place where friendships are made, parents feel supported and children can thrive.
Community Owned, Built to Last
From the very beginning, it was important to our founder, Emily, that Toddle Town was created as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), rather than a traditional profit-driven business. Her vision has always been to create something that genuinely benefits local families and leaves a lasting legacy for Coalville.
What makes Toddle Town truly different is that it will be community-owned. This means the space belongs to the people who use it, and every penny we generate is reinvested into improving the facilities, expanding activities, supporting local families and keeping Toddle Town affordable and accessible for everyone.
We're not just creating an indoor play centre, we're creating a lasting community asset that will grow alongside the families who use it. A place where children can thrive, parents can connect, and the whole community has a welcoming space to come together for years to come.
