The aim is to be able to stay open to the community, now with all the payments and expenses going up we are starting to feel the pinch
Helping others is a charity based in Goole for the public. Our Vision is we put health
& well-being at the heart of everything we do, we work together to raise awareness and understanding and offer local support within our local community. The team consists of a manager, two delivery staff and four volunteers who are all there for their own need. We have ex-offenders and ex drug users working for us, staff who have come to gain confidence with working amongst a busy environment, our oldest volunteer is 80 yrs old, he lost his wife 3 years ago and the shop gives him a purpose in life and a regular routine.
The shop also has a warm space where we have regulars calling in for a chat and a cuppa, some of these regulars we are the only people they see and speak to in their day. We also have food available 2 days per week through Tesco Fareshare for the public and also have surplus food for emergencies for families or anyone struggling, or in crisis and this comes from the public donating. After 3 years of successfully fundraising and self-financing in our charity shop, we are now in crisis of survival. We sustain referrals from Domestic violence, Nhs, Macmillan, homeless ,elderly, refuge and people whom are disabled.
We currently have two work vans which need diesel every week, to be able to pick donations up so we can sell on as affordable living for people setting up home, and also the cost of the rising energy prices. It's a very scary time and the shop would be sadly missed . Please support us
