Aim

Help me show that gliding & flying are fantastic sports & potential careers for anyone, regardless of personal background.

Hello and Welcome to my crowdfunding page, Help to Fly

With your help, I want to show that gliding & flying really is something for everyone, and not just the "rich" or "privileged".  I want to show that flying accessible and not just aspirational.

As a pilot I know that flying is fantastic for improving mental and physical health, helping students become capable and confident pilots, by not only learning the theoretical and practical skills required to pilot an aircraft, but also life skills such as problem solving and working as part of a diverse team.

This crowd funding page has been setup with the aim of helping those in Dorset that are passionate about flying. But without its help wouldn’t be able to take their first steps in learning to fly, either towards a very rewarding hobby or as a potential career.

With your help the project will offer up to 5 bursaries, which will be used to fund flying/gliding lessons and experiences'.

Those awarded the bursary will be given the chance to learn how to fly in a two seat glider or motor glider with the Dorset Gliding Club and experience night and Instrument flying from Bournemouth International airport.

There will also be visits to:

1. Approved Commercial flight Training Organizations (ATO) giving the chance to speak to student airline pilots and the course instructors.

2. For those who are interested in the prospect of working on aircraft as a career, we'll be visiting a commercial aircraft maintenance facility.

3. Or you are interested in Airport Operations, we'll be visiting an Air traffic Control (ATC) tower.

If you can support, even if it's only a few £'s, it will make a big difference, helping them learn about aviation, and how to take it further.

Thank you,

Nicholas Barnes
