Hot meals to earthquake evacuees in Noto (Japan)

Aim

We want to provide nutritious hot meals to people in evacuation centres in Ishikawa (Japan), the region hit by the 1/1/2024 earthquake

We are Italians running a small Italian restaurant in Fukuoka (Japan), called TIPICO. 

We know that now (end of February 2024), many people are still living in evacuation centres in Noto peninsula, after the 1st January 2024 earthquake that brought an incredible disruption to that area of Japan and to people's lives. 

Most of the evacuees are still living in a very precarious situation. They have no private accommodation, no running water and gas, and on top of many important problems, there is a constant lack of hot and nutritious meals. 

Food is very important for health, but is also an element of comfort in difficult situations. We know from local volunteers that not enough is done at this regards from large corporations or NPOs. It’s indeed very difficult to reach the area because of disrupted roads and heavy snow and there are many problems to solve to rebuild the area.

But we cannot sit and watch people starving for food! We want to raise our sleeves and help!

We will then close our restaurant for two weeks and travel to Noto to deliver delicious Italian meals to people in evacuation centres, to improve health and happiness of people less fortunate than us.

Unfortunately we are not a large NPO or an organisation that is equipped with portable kitchen and trucks. We need to work around many issues.

Due to the difficult situation on the roads and lack of accommodation, and in order to bring as much quantity of food as possible, we are planning to go by train to Kanazawa and then rent a caravan over there to tour around different evacuation centres. We are already in touch with local volunteering associations that are looking forward to this support!

We are happy to donate all our time and missed revenue from our business, while we are on site, and to contribute with our money as much as we can. We just look for some support for the rental of the camper car and purchase of gas / expensive ingredients like meat and olive oil.

We know we can make a real difference, as we have already helped two times during the 2011 Great East Earthquake in Tohoku and we have seen how helping hands on the ground make a difference in people's life.

福岡 (日本) で TIPICO という小さなイタリア料理レストランを経営しているイタリア人です。

日本のその地域と人々の生活に信じられないほどの混乱をもたらした2024年1月1日地震の後、現在（2024年2月末）も多くの人々が能登半島の避難所で生活していることを私たちは知っています。

避難者の多くは依然として非常に不安定な状況にあります。被災者には民間のがなく、水道もガスも通っていません。多くの重要な問題に加えて、温かくて栄養価の高い食事が常に不足しています。

食事は健康にとって非常に重要ですが、困難な状況での慰めの要素でもあります。 私たちは地元のボランティアの話から、大企業やNPOがこの点に関して十分な対応をとっていないそうです。

確かに、道路の寸断と大雪のため、この地域に行くのは非常に困難であり、地域の再建には解決すべき問題がたくさんあります。

しかし、食べ物が十分ではない人々をただ座って見ているわけには行きません。 私たちも力を合わせて支援したいと思っています！

そこで、被災者の人々の健康と少しでも幸せになっていただけるように、レストランを2週間休業し、避難所にいる人々においしいイタリア料理を届けるために能登に向かおうと思っています。

残念ながら、TIPICOは、ポータブルキッチンやトラックを備えた大規模なNPOや組織ではありません。 

道路状況が厳しく、宿泊施設が不足しているため、できるだけ多くの食料を持っていくために、金沢まで電車で行き、向こうでキャラバンを借りて避難所を回る予定です。 この支援を楽しみにしている地元のボランティア団体とすでに連絡を取っています。

私たちは、現地に滞在する間、できるだけ被災者のために貢献したいと考えています。 キャンピングカーのレンタルとガソリン、肉やオリーブオイルなどの食材の購入への支援を求めています。

私たちは、2011 年の東北地方太平洋沖地震の際にすでに 2 回支援を行っており、現場での支援が人々の生活にどのような変化をもたらすかを目の当たりにしており、私たちが真の変化をもたらすことができることを信じています・祈っています。
