We're still collecting donations
On the 8th December 2022 we'd raised £331 with 7 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Rid the world of man-made plastic. Help us to build a hemp-based plastic facility and produce a natural plastic alternative for everyone.

On the 8th December 2022 we'd raised £331 with 7 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it" (Vishal Vivek, CEO Hemp Foundation).
The very existence of nature hangs in the balance. Global warming, pollution and a plague of single-use, non-biodegradable plastics that are polluting our oceans, rivers and lands causing death and mayhem in the natural world. Come and help us to tip the balance Nature's way by using the gift that Mother Nature herself has provided - Hemp, a natural alternative to man-made plastics which could change the entire course of our planet's decline.
So what exactly is hemp? Hemp is the product we get from the Cannabis Sativa Plant, no don't worry it isn't marajuana although it is from the same family of plants.
Hemp, sometimes called 'Industrial Hemp' is quite harmless, the only 'high' you get from our hemp is knowing that you are saving the natural world and making the planet a safer, cleaner place for now and for future generations.
What we do get from this wonder plant is:
Fibre for yarns, fabric and clothing,
Oil and protein powder from the flower seeds.
Hemp shives (from stalks) for building materials & animal bedding,
Medicines, pain relief, skin treatments,
Soap, beer and flour (not in that order!)
and now;
Hemp Bio-plastic - produced using cellulose from the seeds, stalks and leaves.
None of the plant is wasted, every part of it is used.
Progress So-Far
We are not asking for your donation to fund a concept, we have done all the science and have set up a small scale plant and are already making granules for injection and blow moulding aplications.
What we need to do now is scale it up, create a world class production facility and start making the hemp plastic in sufficient quantity to drive the change from man-made single use plastics to our hemp based natural plastic alternative.
The petroleum based plastic in everyday use takes more than 1,000 years to degrade (if at all!). Our hemp bio-plastic degrades in 3 - 6 months and returns to the Earth where it all began without causing harm.
The benefits of this are self explanatory, but just as important is the fact that the profits are being used to make a difference to the lives of some of the world's poorest people, living and working in harsh environments. As the project scales up this work will increase with it, helping even more people across the world so we all benefit instead of a few rich people getting even richer!
To do this we need your help!
Only by coming together and supporting this initiative can we stop the plastic plague - we can't rely on governments or big organsiations, they have all had their chance and failed us dramatically.
It's now down to us, the people, to sort it out so please give generously - all donations are welcome large or small.
Where will your money go?
Your contribution will be spent on building a hemp plastic manufacturing facility to scale up production, creating employment, hope and opportunities for some of the world's poorest people in the Indian Himalayan Region. In addition to the direct help in this region, the hemp based bio-plastic that we produce will help to reduce the crippling effect that petroleum based plastics are having on our planet. As our technology is rolled out across the world, hemp plastics will change our environment for the benefit for all of nature and the future of us all.
Donations
All donations are welcome and your contribution will make a difference. Our project target is a modest £250k which will certainly help to start production of our hemp plastic alternative. That said, this alone won't change to course of the planet so we have added a 'stretch target' of £2.5M to help us scale up the project to world beating class and enable us to build facilities all over the world and give access to hemp based plastic to everyone.
As thanks for your donation we would dearly like to send you all some of our hemp products but this would significantly deplete the fund we need to build our hemp plastic alternative. The UK Tax man (HMRC) would also take an additional 20% in VAT from any donation if we offer physical rewards. As an alternative we have therefore created a tier of donation catagories for your kind donations, everyone of you, regardless of the size of your donation, will be named on our website as a contributor as a record of your kindness and your contribution to saving our planet. You will also be entered into our lottery with a chance to visit the Himalayan Region and see what we are doing first hand (see below).
Opportunity to Visit the Project in Action
Whilst we cant offer physical rewards, if we meet or exceed or targets, we will take 10 randomly selected donors to India to see the work we are doing first hand - this will be done by a lottery with one entry for every £1 donated. Winners will be flown from London to Delhi, accomodation, internal travel to Uttarakhand and food will be provided (full terms and conditions can be seen on our website:

If you would like to contact us direct and speak about other funding opportunities we would of course like to hear from you. Just contact us direct at [email protected]
Background
Hemptology is a small family business based in Dorset and is the UK trading outlet for the Hemp Foundation based in India. Working together to provide employment, housing and education in the Indian Himalaya's, one of the world's poorest regions.
Our work helps everyone in the region without discrimination with an emphasis on empowering women and young girls who are often left behind as the menfolk leave the area in search of employment in the cities and beyond, often never to return.
We have formed a co-operative of over 500 farmers and villages dedicated to the growing of organic hemp. No fertilisers or chemicals of any kind are used producing a truly organic crop. Growing on the 'top of the world' with the plantations irrigated by pure snow melt and with cleanest air on Earth produces hemp of the finest quality which we then use to make fine cloth, hemp foods, hemp oil and now, through this project - hemp based bio-plastic.
Through our work with the Hemp Foundation we provide long term employment in a environmentally friendly business that benefits us all. We are also helping to re-build communities and re-instate abandoned villages in the region and bring back traditional farming methods.
All of this work is paid for by selling our hemp based produce with profits being invested in the Hemp Foundation to continue this work.
Thank you all for your donations - every penny is very much appreciated by us and the people of the Himlayan Region where it is making a huge difference.
