Aim

To provide a secure locations for 3 rescued conflict tigers who cannot be returned to the wild

As India's human population increases, human-tiger conflict is becoming more frequent. This results when tigers stray close to areas where people live and tragically, can result in injury or fatality to tigers as well as to humans and their livestock.

As a result of this conflict, tigers are often killed or captured and held permanently in government facilities which provide them with no or little access to the outdoors.

Born Free's tiger sanctuary in Bannerghatta National Park in southern India currently cares for 3 conflict tigers, and long-term resident Roque, who was rescued from a pet shop in Spain when still a cub.

Born Free is raising funds to reinforce the three conflict tiger enclosures, to ensure the safety and security of both tigers and people, and allowing these wild tigers permanent access to large outdoor areas of natural habitat, with around a hectare of forest shade and long grass. In addition, a generator is required to power the supply of water to the enclosures for the water pools where the tigers sometimes wallow.

Sadly, the tigers at the Bannerghatta sanctuary cannot be returned to the wild, but with your help we can provide them with the best possible care and welfare. Please help give these tigers a second chance.
