THS Performance Academy - Documentary

Aim

THS Performance Academy are producing a documentary film about its members and their journeys to big performances in and around York in 2027

THS Performance Academy provides a platform for talented people with learning disabilities to be able to fulfil their dreams of becoming performers.

We are passionate about being able to explore and refine skills that will help develop the artistic skills and processes of talented creatives in a fast paced, fun and exciting environment. Our focus is on getting excellent young artists to be able to develop their own platforms for success within the ever shifting arts industry. 

As we embark on our second year of the academy, which is a branch of Tang Hall SMART C.I.C, we are creating a film to document the process we undertake to create our original dance and music pieces, and our dreams (and hopefully realities!) of performing these at external, professional venues in summer 2027. The film will be premiered at a screening in York in late 2027, and will be accompanied by a piece of academic research into our tutor/learner working style, our creative process and the benefits of our long-standing relationship with the academy members, some of whom have been with us since Tang Hall SMART began in 2014.
