What is the Hastings Project? 
After a successful 3.5 years running as a not for profit brewery and raising thousands of pounds for local charities and projects, The Hastings Project is proud to announce that we are taking on The Prince of Wales Pub in St Leonards to transform it into a true community pub – run for the benefit of local people, not private profit.

Over the last 3.5 years, we’ve brewed over 15 unique beers and raised thousands of pounds for 15 incredible charities and community projects across Hastings and the surrounding area.

Our beers don’t just stay local, they’ve found their way to some of the best pubs and bottle shop shelves in Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes, Rye, Whitstable, Canterbury, Margate, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and London.

But it’s never just been about the beer. We’ve hosted monthly pub quizzes to raise awareness and funds for local causes, organised family-friendly beach cleans, taken over kitchens to showcase a local food poverty charity and brought people together through our Pints with Purpose events, all with one goal: to strengthen and support our community.

Now, we’re ready to take the next step and we’d love you to be part of it.

The Hastings Project is delighted to announce a major new initiative: taking over and transforming The Prince of Wales pub in St Leonards into a true community pub, run for the benefit of local people, not private profit.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), we exist for the good of Hastings and St Leonards-on-sea. This means:

- Every pint you buy helps to fund local charities, grassroots groups, and social projects.

- Our profits don’t leave town – they’re reinvested to support local causes and create opportunities.

- We’ll use the pub as a platform to showcase charities, community projects as well as local artists, musicians, makers, helping our creative community flourish.

-The Prince of Wales will be a space for workshops, fundraisers, and community events that directly benefit local people.

We are already working with local charities and community projects to explore how the space can best support the people with the most need in our community and we already have some exciting ideas in motion.

The Project’s commitment to community is matched only by its dedication to exceptional beer. While the pub's mission is social, the product itself will be of the highest quality. Customers can expect a rotating selection of The Hastings Project's own beers, alongside a carefully curated range of guest beers and cider. We're committed to keeping the highest cellar standards, guaranteeing that each pint is perfectly stored, conditioned, and poured with the care and attention to detail expected from any great pub. In addition to beer, we will also offer a wide selection of other drinks including wine, cider, spirits and soft drinks, and traditional pub snacks.


How Will Your Funds Help?

By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping us:

- Renovate and refresh the pub so it’s safe, welcoming, and full of life

- Cover essential start-up costs to get the doors open again

- Create jobs and training opportunities for local people

We're offering 1.5 x what you give us in credit to spend behind the bar. Meaning, if you donate £50.00 then you'll get a reward of £75.00 to spend on THP beers. Please see the rewards section and please check all T&Cs. You will have 6 months from opening date to redeem your beer tokens. Just a quick note: tokens will only be sent once the Crowdfunder campaign is complete. If you’re buying this as a present, please be aware that no physical items will arrive until the new year.
