To give away a thousand copies of the Home for Good book free to people considering fostering or adoption.
Back in 2013, Krish and Miriam Kandiah wrote ‘Home for Good’ about their experiences as foster and adoptive parents, in the hope that it would encourage Christians to be the loving families that vulnerable children need.
Thousands of people have since read this book (the publishers have just released the second edition). The book led to Home for Good launching as a charity to equip the UK Church to respond to the needs of vulnerable children and advocate on their behalf.
Best of all, hundreds of children have been welcomed into loving families through fostering or adoption, because God inspired people to respond as they read this book.
But there’s so much more to do.
Today, 109 children will come into the care system in the UK. Around 3,000 children are waiting for an adoptive family. 8,100 more foster carers are urgently needed.
But the good news is that Christians are continuing to make a difference as they respond to God’s call to care for the vulnerable.
Over the next 12 months, around 1,000 people are going to contact Home for Good as their first step towards welcoming a vulnerable child into their home through fostering or adoption
And with your help, we want to offer every single one of them a copy of this book to help them in their journey – for free.
By 31 May 2019, we hope to raise £10,000 so that together we can give away 1,000 books that could make a life-changing difference for hundreds of vulnerable children - so that thanks to you, they too might have a different story to tell.
It costs £10 for us to buy a copy of the book back from the publisher who owns the copyright, post it to someone, and cover the admin needed to do this.
Every £10 that you can give will put one more book into the hands of someone considering welcoming a vulnerable child into their family.
If you’re able to give more than £10, we’ve got some special rewards lined up as our way of saying thank you. Everything from a signed copy of this book or Krish’s new book (due late 2019), to a limited-edition print hand-drawn by a child whose story was changed by the book. Choose which reward you like best!
Krish says, “People tell me that this book should come with a health warning, because of the impact it has had. Their family story is now different. And the children they have welcomed in have a different story too.
“Imagine what ten thousand books might do. Imagine the stories we could write together.”

Home for Good is a Christian charity that works to inspire, equip and resource people to play their part in caring for vulnerable children so that together we can find a home for every child who needs one.

Gift Aid is a great government scheme that means charities can claim back 25p for every £1 donated. Under HMRC’s rules, Gift Aid cannot be claimed when someone makes a donation and in return receives a benefit worth over a certain amount. Therefore, our ‘Write a story’ and ‘Write two stories’ reward options are eligible for Gift Aid, but all other rewards are not.
However, if you simply use the donate box at the top (and select no reward), you will have the option to Gift Aid your donation.
£20 and £50 rewards will be sent to you shortly after the campaign has ended, and before the end of June at the latest.
£100, £250 and £500 rewards will be sent to you as soon as Krish's new book is published, which we anticipate will be by the end of November at the latest.
The bulk of the £1,000 and £2,500 rewards will also be sent by the end of November, with the exception of the personalised scrapbook (which will be sent a year after the campaign has ended), and dinner (which will be arranged with you for a date that is suitable).
We will give away as many books as we possibly can with the resources that we have.
First, we’ll celebrate! £10,000 means that your generosity will give away 1,000 books to people considering fostering or adoption! Then, we’ll ensure that all other donations go towards resourcing our enquiry line, which has become the first port of call for many Christians considering fostering and/or adoption. Your generosity will help our team answer queries via phone or email, send information, connect enquirers with a Voluntary Adoption Agency or Local Authority, and journey with them as they take the next step.

While the second edition of the book is retailing at £13.99, Krish and Miriam’s discounted author rate means that we’re able to buy the book back from the publisher (who owns the copyright) for £5.99. It costs £2.95 to post the book with a fostering or adoption information pack, and £1.06 will be used towards the cost of staff to administrate this. The authors make no money on books being bought back from the publisher at the buy-back price.
