Thornaby Cricket Club has been hit hard by Covid...but we want to hit it for 6 and bounce back! Get involved and help us raise some funds.

History
Its fair to say since it was founded in 1896, Thornaby Cricket Club has never experienced a year quite like 2020. Like many other sports clubs and businesses, the effects of Covid-19 and the consequences of the global pandemic run deep. However, we are determined to fight back and hit Covid for 6!
Thornaby Cricket Club is located in the heart of Thornaby, in the beautiful setting of Mandale Bottoms. It has a function room, bar and the historic and popular changing room and balcony as shown below.

Community Links
Thornaby Cricket Club is the hub of the local community, many local organisations use the Club facilities, including local charities, dance & health and fitness clubs and a host of others.
In addition to this and in "normal circumstances" we have regular bookings for parties, weddings and other celebrations.
Every November we host our annual Fireworks event, which sees thousands of people from the local community descend to the club, for a fun evening of family entertainment.

We have an excellent relationship with Thornaby Town Council and look to work together, in partnership with them where we can. Last year was scheduled to be the inaugural live music festival "Thornafest" at the cricket club, but due to Covid, it to be cancelled. We are committed however, to it being an annual event in the future.

The effect of Covid-19 has hit the cricket club hard. We rely on the bar and function room as our major source of revenue. However, due to significant and sustained periods of restrictions and lockdowns, income has been severely reduced. Without these resources, we need help to prepare for the new season.
How will your money help?
Thornaby Cricket Club is community club, we recognise the importance of the club in the local community, particularly our junior section, which is continuing to grow. It is a safe, friendly and welcoming place for young people, to help keep active, maintain a healthy lifestyle and forge long-lasting friendships.

We want to continue to grow the junior section, where we welcome children from as young as 4 years old in our All Stars Cricket and Dynamo section, through the respective age groups from u9s, u11s, u13s, u15s and u17s.
Here is a short video of the junior section having fun last summer:

We also have a strong senior section, with 3 teams (plus a midweek team), operating in the North Yorkshire South Durham structure. We truly have an offer for people of all ages, sex, race or religion.
To sustain this amount of cricket and opportunity requires continuous investment. We really want to help use the funding to:

In addition, there are a number of expenses, when looking ahead to the season:
Every penny donated will be put to good use and will help protect the future of this historic club, in these unprecedented times.
Please look at our rewards section, there is hopefully something for everyone to be involved.
Thornaby Cricket Club 5,589 mile Challenge!

We are also looking to get active and raise money at the same time. As a club we are hoping to Walk/Run and Cycle, a combined total of 5,589 miles! That is the exact distance from Thornaby Cricket to Maharashtra Cricket Club in Pune, India. That is where England play their final match of their winter tour.
We are hoping that children and adults alike will get involved and raise sponsorship to reach this target. All exercise is to be tracked on the "Strava" app, which is free to download on all "Apple" and "Android" devices.
Please download the app, register your details, press "Explore" on the bottom row, select "Clubs" on the top tab, in search box type "Thornaby Cricket Club Crowd Funder", then click on "request to join the club". The combined miles for all participants will be logged here.
