My name is Peter Lilly, and I am the founder of CodeWordZebra, a passionate video production company. Recently we made a feature length documentary, showcasing the vibrant skateboarding culture in Palestine, shedding light on a side of the community that we rarely see, especially in the current climate.
Through working closely with skatepal, a non-profit organisation dedicated to building skateparks, providing equipment, and coaching for Palestinian children, we aimed to showcase the generosity, warmth, and shared interests of the Palestinian people.
Skateboarding, often considered a universal language, has brought together kids from diverse backgrounds, teaching them valuable skills and fostering a sense of community. The documentary not only captures the positive impact of skatepal's initiatives but also delves into the broader efforts of re:ply, an organisation working to make skateboarding more accessible in Palestine by recycling boards and hosting workshops. Skateboards are not easily accessible in Palestine as there are no skate shops, and getting product in and out of the country is not an easy task, so re:ply’s sustainable practices were a huge benefit to the skateboarding scene in Palestine.
Our documentary aims to dispel stereotypes and showcase the universal love for skateboarding that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries. Now more than ever, we must provide people around the world with the opportunity to connect with and understand the incredible people of Palestine, while sharing their beautiful culture with the world.
All money raised goes straight back in to the film. Distribution has proven to be an extremely expensive part of the process, so we need your help to get the film moving. Your donations will contribute towards;
- Film festival fees - In order for the film to get the right exposure, we want to submit the film to as many film festivals as possible, all over the world.
- Film screenings - Festival permitting, we hope to do more screenings of the film, and hire film theatres to use their space, and show the film to large audiences.
- Paid media ads - Once the ball is rolling, we hope to pay for advertising on social media platforms, to reach a wider audience.
Thank you so so much for checking out this crowd funder, and giving the time to learn about the project. Your generosity is massively appreciated, and will really go a huge way in supporting our cause. We love talking about the project, so if you want to hear more, please do not hesitate to get in contact, and lets talk!
