Aim
This was your life; A fundraiser to cover the costs of a low key cabaret farewell to the Godfather of Alternative comedy.
As some of you may be aware Tony ‘Godfather of Alternative Comedy’ Allen,original MC of the comedy store, one of the OGS of alternative comedy and thought filled troubadour was recently diagnosed with a terminal condition;
Life. He's also a bit poorly, but we won't dwell on that, right now.
As a result he is currently putting his affairs and whatnots and things that you can’t take with you in order, before he takes his final curtain call and leaves for the big green room in the sky
Tony is, to the end an anarchistic, agnostic and revolutionary spirit and lover of experimental comic performance and, in keeping with this ethos we are arranging a wake for him, whilst he is still alive, where he can be guest of honour.
A wake for him, before he finally falls asleep (in this lifetime at least )...
An event called ‘This was your life’
This will be a low key performance event in West London on the evening of the 27th July. and will be an opportunity for those that know him to say 'Nice one Tone' in this way.
Anyone who knows and loves Tony and / or his work are welcome to turn up and pay their respects by being an audience member. Why not pop along and see you can blag a seat or check out the live stream from where ever you are in the world.
We are looking to raise £1000 to cover the small costs of the event and the larger cost of quality live-streaming
As Alexi Sayle said jokingly , ‘Any comic who has ever done Edinburgh festival owes him and Tony Allen a cut’ (as they were the first alt comedians to think of the idea of playing the festival) … so, even if you don’t know Tony personally but have had anything to do with comic performance over the last 40 years and that includes the most important role; sitting in the audience for it, do consider chipping in .
The gig, with door at 7.00pm on the 27th July, at the “Quiet Night Inn” W11, will be live steamed.
