On the 22nd April 2023 we'd raised £3,300 with 92 supporters in 85 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

Ultimately once the book has been published have already planned the book tour. This will involve showing two films - the projected version of the entire exhibition - a collaboration between Margate based artist Tindara and Catrin who took the photographs - and "Making The Change" a film by Tindara Sidoti McNary featuring womxn from the exhibition and other womxn from across the UK. Including Catrin, and our Mums! The book tour will travel to galleries like Home, Manchester, The Turner lates, Margate, Weston Park Museum, Sheffield, The Arnolfini, Bristol, Hopkinstown Hall, Pontypridd, The Bishopsgate Institute, London - we are even currently looking at a space in Kreuzberg, Berlin to show the films. We want to take it to The Feminist Library in London and for the book to be available in libraries so that womxn can access it and learn from the multitude of diverse women's experiences of menopause featured in the book in the form of interviews and photographs of them in their happy places.

In response to feedback from the exhibition Catrin also wants to extend the amount of women interviewed and photographed to 100. Including photographs of 30 more people. These would include trans men, women who find themselves homeless, women in institutions and prisons, women who live on the road, and post menopausal women.

We are applying to the arts council for £30,000 so this Crowdfunder would make up the 10% match funding they require to apply for projects of this size and ambition.

After a successful crowdfunder and application to the Arts Council England as the world came out of Lockdown in 2021 Catrin Osborne - based in Ramsgate - travelled the UK photographing and interviewing womxn about their unique experiences of menopause. This culminated in an exhibition featuring 70 diverse womxn, with video work by Tindara Sidoti McNarey - based in Margate - which toured the UK to Bristol, London, Ramsgate, Frome, Brighton, Sheffield, Rochdale, Faversham and Whitstable in 2022. The exhibition received brilliant feedback and was featured in the Royal Photographic Society's Quarterly Documentary Journal Sept 2022https://rps.org/groups/documentary/the-decisive-moment-the-quarterly-journal-of-the-documentary-group/ edition, and was nominated for the Brighton Fringe's Best Exhibition Award 2022.

In response to feedback from women who attended and who felt there was so much information in the interviews and so many photos to enjoy, we would like to turn the exhibition into a published book. In order to make this happen we are looking for some match funding in the form of this Crowdfunder Campaign. If you would like to pre order a copy of the book please donate £25 here, and be one of the first people to receive a copy. Also please share this on your social media to help us reach other people who may be interested in our campaign.
