Any additional support will contribute to The Resonance Centre's general running costs and allow more fantastic community health and wellbeing activities to take place.
The Resonance Centre is a brand new community health and wellbeing hub creating positive and powerful change in Clayton, Manchester.
The Resonance Centre is a unique space positioned just minutes from Manchester's city centre. It provides a wealth of health and wellbeing activities for the local community including yoga, meditation, nutritional eating, drumming, dancing, digital inclusion, sober events, radio and podcasting, and much more.
In only two years, The Resonance Centre has undergone a radical transformation- turning a kitchen showroom into the incredible community space it is today. The Resonance Centre has offered free space and affordable room hire to local groups to run activities and now, it needs your help.
Our Ask
The Resonance Centre is currently 100% reliant on volunteer support. We need your help to cover management salaries for the next year. £35,000 will contribute to two part-time Centre Manager roles, supporting the centre to become fully operational and open to the community seven days per week.
Grants funding has allowed for the refurbishment of the centre and for project work, and room hire keeps the building maintenance costs running, but this key piece of the jigsaw will unlock the full potential of this fantastic community asset.
Step Up MCR will double every £1 donated!
Step Up MCR is the place based giving charity for Manchester growing community-led projects across Ancoats & Beswick and Clayton & Openshaw.
By hosting The Resonance Centre's Crowdfunder campaign, we commit to match-fund every £1 donated up to £10,000, meaning all donations up to £10,000 will be doubled to create a pot of £20,000.
From Kitchen Showroom to Community Space
Juanita Margerison, Director of The Resonance Centre and Silver Spoon Kitchens, began on her own health and wellness journey in 2016.
After revolutionising her lifestyle with yoga, mindfulness, clean eating and other practices, Juanita came up with the dream of creating her kitchen showroom into a wellness hub to offer health and wellbeing activities to the community free of charge.
Fellow Director, Ralph Sweeney, came on board in 2019 to help the dream of The Resonance Centre grow. They registered as a Community Interest Company in May 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The team began offering online classes to support people at home throughout the pandemic, all while refurbishing the centre.
Following a seven month renovation, The Resonance Centre saw a radical transformation from a kitchen showroom to a spacious, contemporary studio with endless uses and benefits for the whole community.
Since opening in the summer of 2021, The Resonance Centre has delivered well over 1,000 hours of yoga, meditation, pranayama classes and workshops.
Juanita and Ralph continue to work tirelessly on a voluntary basis to run The Resonance Centre, working weekdays, evenings and weekends to deliver a space that brings the whole community together for positive, powerful change.
With your help and match funding from Step Up MCR, Juanita and Ralph hope to raise £20,000 to cover their management costs and unlock the masses of potential at The Resonance Centre.
Your support will enable regular and stable opening times for the centre, with a Centre Manager always present to manage the day-to-day running of the centre. This includes managing room bookings and centre timetables, bookkeeping and finances, general upkeep and maintenance, and supporting individuals and groups using the space.
The Resonance Centre has a jam-packed schedule of amazing activities which desperately require the co-ordination and scheduling of a Centre Manager.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
The Plant Base
With the staff in place for the centre to open more regularly, The Resonance Centre plans to open The Plant Base, a garden style ‘snackery’ serving healthy plant-based and organic meals.
The Resonance Centre has a wealth of health and wellbeing benefits for the whole community, with activities supporting:
The Resonance Centre is fully integrated into the Clayton community, with strong partnerships and referral pathways to provide holistic support and wrap-around care to anyone accessing the centre.
The centre has co-created a collaborative working environment with other local community organisations. It is now home to a range of groups including Step Up MCR, Drywave CIC, Flourish Together and many others making use of the space.
We're excited to offer some fantastic rewards to promote our Crowdfunder campaign and want to offer our thanks to the individuals, businesses and groups supporting our work.

Endless thanks to the fantastic community who have already gotten behind The Resonance Centre to grow it into the fantastic local asset it is today.
Step Up MCR is the place-based giving charity creating powerful change in communities from the inside out. With a focus on the Manchester wards Ancoats & Beswick and Clayton & Openshaw, we work to build more connected communities by increasing local giving to community-led projects.
Our aim is to create more resilient communities and address local inequalities by boosting community activity, raising aspirations and increasing health and wellbeing. We do this by brokering support between resident-led projects and those wanting to give back, and creating spaces for people to discuss and gain support for community-led projects. In promoting local giving, we unlock access for anybody to give back to the community- whether its time, money, resources, skills, knowledge or space.
As well as supporting giving to established local organisations and projects, Step Up MCR aims to be the catalyst for new and emerging ideas to develop and grow into sustainable projects. We do this by working in partnership with residents, businesses, voluntary groups or public sector bodies to increase giving.
Our match funding for The Resonance Centre's campaign comes in partnership with Manchester Local Care Organisation, MCR Active and One Manchester.
