The Old School Hall Management Committee manages a community centre comprising a large hall, large meeting room, kitchen, entrance lobby and toilets. In 2009 an annex incorporating infants toilets was added. The premises are available for hire to any not for profit community group. When not required by not for profit groups the facilities may be hired by commercial organisations and individuals.

The Old School Hall going Green !
Phase 1
We want to do our bit and reduce our co2 emissions by switching our inefficient gas heating systems to Air Source Heating.
Fitting Air Conditioning units to the the Old School Hall would remove the need to rely on the two expensive to run large commercial gas boilers and remove the large amount of carbon emissions that they produce from the atmosphere. Each gas boiler uses 45kw of energy.
Five air conditioners units with a maximum energy input of 9kw and giving 32kw of heat. The increase of electricity costs is more than offset with the reduction of gas usage.
Phase 2
The Old School Hall would fit solar panels to the rear roof area producing 23mW of electricity each year saving 4.46t of co2 emissions annually the equivalent planting 405 trees annually
Electricity produced would power the OSH lighting and air conditioning with the surplus used to heat hot water and top up the storage batteries. We can then export and sell any electricity not used to the national grid, giving us an income to use to pay for electricity when we can’t produce the amount that we need.
The OSH is looking at funding these by applying for grants and using fund raising activities, Saturday Cafe, Christmas markets etc.
Thank you to everyone who supports our fundraising by visiting the OSH and our events.
Can help the Old School by donating to our Going Green project.
