The Kite Trust - Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth

Aim

We can't hold our Queer Valentine's fundraiser safely this February, so we're crowdfunding to support our work with LGBTQ+ youth!

With five of our local districts in the top 20 nationally for coronavirus cases right now, we're prioritising the safety of our community and postponing our Queer Valentines event at Cambridge Junction until the summer.

But the work doesn't stop! The number of LGBTQ+ young people and their family members seeking support from The Kite Trust is higher than ever before. We're running more groups and events than ever before, as well as continuing to provide individual support as needed. 

That's why we need your help. We're not going anywhere, but without Queer Valentine's, there's a gap in our fundraising income right now, and that money helps us to continue expanding our youth work programmes to be there for every LGBTQ+ young person who wants it. 

As the effects of the pandemic continue and the cost of living crisis takes hold, we anticipate more LGBTQ+ young people wanting to access our travel bursaries to get to our spaces and spend time with their community. We anticipate more families of LGBTQ+ young people being reliant on our new school holiday activities and food provision for nutritious meals outside of term time. And we anticipate more LGBTQ+ young people asking our youth workers to help them navigate other services around mental health, housing, benefits, employment, education and more. 

Every pound helps us to plan ahead and keep up with this demand - expanding groups, offering more individual support and creating new spaces to engage with the whole family.
