We want to end hygiene poverty in Cardiff by supporting and empowering more people to overcome poverty and improve their well-being.
What we do and why
The Hygiene Bank believes that personal hygiene is not a privilege. Our vision is that one day everyone living in the UK will have access to essential hygiene products.
The Hygiene Bank in Cardiff works day in day out to deliver on this vision at a local level. Statistics show that long before people go to a foodbank, they stop buying hygiene products.
Not being able to afford to keep clean can have a huge impact on self-worth and confidence, which in turn can lead to isolation and loneliness, holding people back from fully participating in society.

The Hygiene Bank Cardiff supports 10 community partners – a mix of charities, schools and voluntary organisations – resulting in regularly delivering hygiene products to over 1,000 people. We collect donations from workplaces and public donation points, sort and distribute to our community partners who ensure products go to those who need them the most.

Why do we need additional funds?
We have a number of charities and community groups that are on our 'waiting list' as we do not have the resources and supply of products requested to successfully support them at the moment. This is largely due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, as our main source of products before lockdown was workplace collections and donations from the public. Donations coming through these channels have decreased to almost nothing and so we have needed financial donations to sustain support for our current community partners.
Funds raised will ensure that we are able to expand our list of community partners and reach more people around Cardiff, empowering those pulled into poverty.
