Start a programme to take underprivileged, minority, disabled and at risk groups to the battlefields for cultural enrichment and social development.
In June 2020, we (historians Alex Churchill and Beth Moore) decided to try a new approach in commemorating the Great War. Six things we want to initially address are:
That's a lot of work! And it will take some time.
To that end we have opened the floor at the very beginning for people to be involved, make suggestions and help shape the group. Whilst this means that things like subscriptions etc. are not yet settled, we're making a pledge here to guarantee the arrival of the first issue of our journal "Salient Points"in November 2020, so that you might have something tangible in your hands while work continues.
In order to get the ball rolling, ensure timely publication in line with Armistice Day, and begin addressing things like a website and other costs associated with starting an organisation like this, your donations would be most gratefully received.
Each donor will receive a copy of the journal in November. Your name will also appear in the inaugural issue as a founder of the publication.
We're so looking forward to working with all the enthusiastic people who have already approached us and we hope that together we can assure the memory of WW1 continuing into the 21st Century.
