Aim

Having achieved our aim of ending indoor air pollution for 131 families, we are now raising funds for our climate action work in Solukhumbu.

Update

We have now successfully raised enough money to fund 131 smokeless cooking stoves and end indoor air pollution for two entire villages in Sankhuwashabha. Thanks to your support, we can expect to see significant health, gender equality and environment gains for over 550 people.

But our work doesn't stop there.

We've added a stretch target, to help fund our vital work in Solukhumbu.

1574942160_nepal.pngOur work in Solukhumbu is centered around Deusa Agro Forestry Resource Centre (AFRC). The AFRC was established by The Glacier Trust and EcoHimal Nepal and is a hub for climate change adaptation and agricultural development. It serves over 5,000 people.

Deusa AFRC enables families to adapt to the growing impacts of climate breakdown. Farmers are trying to cope with the increasingly erratic monsoon season in Nepal. Rather than predictable steady rain through the summer months, mountain communities are facing intense downpours followed by weeks, sometimes months, of drought.

This unpredictable pattern of deluge and drought can cause ruinous floods and crop failures. With well planned adaptation strategies, families can overcome these difficulties and agriculture is essential.
