Having achieved our aim of ending indoor air pollution for 131 families, we are now raising funds for our climate action work in Solukhumbu.
We have now successfully raised enough money to fund 131 smokeless cooking stoves and end indoor air pollution for two entire villages in Sankhuwashabha. Thanks to your support, we can expect to see significant health, gender equality and environment gains for over 550 people.
But our work doesn't stop there.
We've added a stretch target, to help fund our vital work in Solukhumbu.
Our work in Solukhumbu is centered around Deusa Agro Forestry Resource Centre (AFRC). The AFRC was established by The Glacier Trust and EcoHimal Nepal and is a hub for climate change adaptation and agricultural development. It serves over 5,000 people.

Women are trained in organic Coffee farming and processing at Deusa AFRC
Deusa AFRC enables families to adapt to the growing impacts of climate breakdown. Farmers are trying to cope with the increasingly erratic monsoon season in Nepal. Rather than predictable steady rain through the summer months, mountain communities are facing intense downpours followed by weeks, sometimes months, of drought.
This unpredictable pattern of deluge and drought can cause ruinous floods and crop failures. With well planned adaptation strategies, families can overcome these difficulties and agriculture is essential.

Farmers at Deusa AFRC are trained in production of organic fertiliser
£10 enables the Agor Forestry Resource Centre to produce 30 climate resilient plant seedlings
£35 trains 30 farmers in the bio-intensive method of tree planting
£104 trains a one local young adult in how to lead training on improved tree cropping
£194 covers one month's salary for the AFRC's agricultural technician and trainer
£138 enables the AFRC to run training on climate smart agriculture and organic pest management
£2,331.71 covers the annual salary of the AFRC centre manager.
The Glacier Trust is a charity registered in England and Wales (no. 1124955). We enable climate change adaptation in Nepal and have over ten years experience on project work in high and mid mountain environment. The Glacier Trust will report on the progress of this project. Both of our Co-Directors, Richard Allen (Nepal) and Morgan Phillips (UK) visit our project sites regularly and liaise closely with our partners.
