Many of us grow up believing peace/joy comes after we "fix" our lives. We say things like:
"I'll feel happy when... I'm financially stable / I'm fitter / I get that job / I find the one / I graduate / I help enough people"
But often reaching the destination doesn't bring us what we think it will in the long run. So, isn't it better to find a way to enjoy the journey? To find joy in the pursuit of the outcomes we want, and not depend on the outcome itself?
We're often pursuing something across different areas of our lives, so to maximise the time we spend in a state of good wellbeing, why not focus on the art of finding contentment in the journey?

Our startup, Wellnessentials, exists to help you build strong, simple foundations for secure, stable and content lives, maximising your time in a peaceful or fulfilled state.
'Wellnessentials' is a new social enterprise (business for good) that aims...
‘To develop the knowledge, intra- and inter-personal skills of people to develop healthier, more equitable and sustainable societies’ (Our Purpose)

The name is a combination of the words wellness and essentials, as we focus on the essential wellness that you need to know about. But, what does 'wellness' even mean?
So, it's basically the stuff that you do that contributes to good wellbeing. When you hear wellness, a variety of things may come to mind - products, classes, self-care. The wellness market is oversaturated with products and services, and often contradictory information to improve your life. We cut out all the fluff, noise and niche topics so you can focus on what's truly essential to know for good health and wellbeing.

We started the venture back in January 2024 and have been doing research, and trialling and testing outputs ever since. This business venture is the successor of a previous wellbeing startup called Student Light, which ran for 7 years from 2016 to 2023.

Our founder, Andre, has spent over 11 years working with students of all ages in universities, community centres and as part of the Mayor of London's skills academies. He combines his work experience in Health Promotion, Marketing and Technology to deliver workshops, develop digital products and build communities, all to improve wellbeing, health and personal outcomes for as many people as possible.
André - "After running my previous business venture, Student Light for 7 years, a business focused on improving wellbeing and building core life and digital skills for communities across London, I learnt some valuable lessons.

I learnt about the diverse ways people learn with diverse minds. I learnt about the ways they engage with content in digital spaces and what's engaging in workshops. I learnt about how people absorb new information and what makes them more likely to take action on it.
I've delivered workshops to thousands of people and got tired. Not physically tired, but tired of knowing that 50-70% of what I taught will likely be forgotten after just 24 hours. I got tired of knowing that I didn't have enough time to show people how to implement what I taught them to improve outcomes. And I got tired of not being able to show them systems that can support their chances of success in the long run.
Everything people need to know to effectively support their health, wellbeing and success (whatever that looks like for them), is most often out there. So, why isn't everyone healthy, content and successful? I believe it's a big part to do with our diverse minds, our diverse circumstances and our diverse journeys. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another.

So, what we're taught, how we're taught it and how we apply it needs to be diverse. I know this well:
I really hope this product brings you, or whoever you've purchased it for, the peace and confidence in sense of direction that it's brought me."
