The aim of the Fight Back is to empower women who have experienced domestic abuse to heal, grow, and reclaim their lives through boxing.
Who are we?Help Survivors of Domestic Abuse Fight Forward
1 in 4 women in the UK experience domestic abuse. At Fight Forward CIC, we believe every survivor deserves more than survival—they deserve transformation.
Fight Forward CIC is a not-for-profit organisation founded by former Team GB boxing gold medalist Lesley Sackey. We use the transformative power of boxing to support women healing from domestic abuse.
Our core programme, The Fight Back, is a 10-week trauma-informed journey that empowers survivors to reclaim control, build resilience, and reconnect with their bodies. The programme ends with a powerful fight night—where participants step into the ring, not just as boxers, but as symbols of strength and survival.
Led by female coaches and supported by a nurturing community, The Fight Back creates a safe space where women are seen, heard, and celebrated. We break the cycle of trauma by helping women move from surviving to thriving—together.
We’re raising £10,000 to deliver the Fight Back programme and ensure it remains accessible to the women who need it most. This funding covers trauma-informed coaching, venue hire, equipment, safeguarding, and therapeutic support — the real, behind-the-scenes costs of creating a safe space where survivors can rebuild confidence and strength. It’s also vital that this event involves the wider community.
Fight Back isn’t just about individual transformation; it’s about shifting culture. By bringing in local volunteers, young boxers, families, and professionals from domestic abuse organisations, we create visibility, shared ownership, and collective awareness around violence against women and recovery.
When the community shows up — not just as spectators but as supporters — it strengthens the safety net around every participant. Together, we’re not just funding a programme — we’re building a movement of support, accountability and hope.
Here’s how the funds will be used:
Community impact
The Fight Back is more than a boxing programme—it’s a movement of healing, empowerment, and sisterhood. We create a safe, supportive space where survivors of domestic abuse come together to rebuild their lives, not in isolation, but in powerful community.
Through our trauma-informed boxing sessions, participants connect with their bodies in a healing way, reclaim their voices, and support each other through every round of their journey.
Our programmes don’t just change individuals—they shift narratives. They show what’s possible when women are given tools, community, and belief. Graduates of Fight Back often go on to mentor others, speak out, and inspire change in their own families and communities.
By investing in the Fight Back, you’re not just helping one woman—you’re fueling a ripple effect of empowerment that reaches far beyond the ring.
