In a world which is becoming more remote, Community Work Day aims to bring people together.

The Carousel is a community interest company founded in 2019. Setting out to build a supportive, friendly and accessible art space in a city centre location, The Carousel has since grown into a community of artists, freelancers and remote workers. Students have written dissertations, freelancers have hosted events, businesses have grown and joint projects have developed all under our roof.
Alongside building our community and renovating our space we have hosted workshops, engaged individuals with creativity and skill building, exhibited 104 artists, distributed over £18,000 to creatives, recorded over 89 hours of DJ sets, had 8,000 people worldwide view our online exhibitions, hosted three small festivals, produced street art projects, took over larger music festivals and a corner of John Lewis Nottingham and drank approximately 7024 litres of coffee.

69% of employees working from home are experiencing symptoms of burnout.
Community Work Day is a Crowdfunding campaign to provide free access to The Carousel for remote workers, freelancers, owners of small businesses and anyone else who may need a community led workplace. Hosted by The Carousel once a week, Community Work Day aims to support people who are struggling with the modern day work climate and are looking for a change of environment.
Studies show that 81% of under-35’s feared loneliness from long-term home working.
Our current members have told us that working from The Carousel has: reduced their stress levels as they can rationalise issues with their peers, helped their work life balance, enabled them to work on collaborative projects and reduced feelings of isolation by making new friendships. In a world which is becoming more remote, Community Work Day aims to bring people together.
Access to The Carousel every Wednesday: 09:00 - 17:00
Including:

In order to host Community Work Day we need to raise funds to pay staff, support refreshment costs and contribute to the building's utilities. Throughout the cost of living crisis The Carousel has been affected by a 23% rise in its utility bills whilst simultaneously losing members because their individual outgoings have increased. In particular early career professionals (who may now be unable to afford a membership) are at risk of having reduced opportunities; maybe even of giving up on their aspirations. Community Work Day will support us in maintaining the increased outgoings of The Carousel whilst helping others who are struggling because of the current economic climate.
