Inspiring children to love and use their local library through theatre, puppetry & adventure. All 14 city libraries; 28 primary schools.
On Thursday, we were awarded our Arts Council Grants for the Arts. To release that funding, and to make the project happen, we need to raise an addtional £500* by 12th March.
"Hidden away amongst all of these books, there's a secret.
Do you want to know what it is? Every night, after we’ve all gone home, the Book People wake up. They run about and read and look after all of these lovely books. But something is happening to the library...the Book People need your help!"
Our actor-librarians reveal the world of the Book People, miniature puppets who live amongst the bookshelves. Children will be led through the engaging and inspiring world of their local library through an enthralling story, and learn about the importance of libraries in the process. By the end of their session, children will have successfully joined their library membership scheme, received their membership card, and borrowed a book. Our aim is for children to feel ownership of their local library, to feel inspired by their books, and be excited to return to use the library into the future.
Directed and performed by professional puppeteers, with an original soundtrack and a very real love of books.
* We need £500 to secure our grant. The additional £75 of our crowdfunder total covers % taken by crowdfunder, and any pledges that bounce.
This project successfully funded on 20th March 2017
