Aim

To provide a dedicated toilet facility within the Aviary.

Who are we?

The Aviary at Stoke primary school is a specialist provision designed to support children with complex needs to thrive. All pupils who attend the Aviary have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and the majority are pre-verbal or have significantly limited communication.

The Aviary and its staff provide a safe, trusted environment for both children and their families. Pupils are making significant progress in their learning and crucially, in their self-care, communication and social and emotional development.

What are we fundraising for?

Dedicated toilet facilities within the Aviary.

Currently, pupils are required to leave the Aviary and walk through the school with a member of staff, which can be highly dysregulating for some children.

Having an accessible toilet facility would minimise unnecessary transitions allowing pupils to remain within a familiar and supportive environment. This would enable staff to deliver more consistent and effective toilet training, support the development of independence and self-care skills and reduce the demand on staffing resources.

See below our before and after photos of what we could provide with your generous donations.

Any additional funding we receive will go towards creating a covered, all-year outdoor area with soft rubber flooring, allowing pupils to access regular movement breaks and provide an expanded space to develop their sensory and physical skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Year 6 residential

This year we have successfully supported one pupil from the Aviary to attend the Year 6 residential trip to Dol-Y-Moch. His mums testimonial;

"I was so impressed with the way he was supported to take part in each activity.”

“It was the best and my most favourite time that I’ve ever spent with him. I never thought that I would see him as a normal child.”

A great example of how our pupils are making significant progress in their learning and crucially in their self-care, communication and social and emotional development due to the fantastic dedication of our staff here at Stoke Primary School and The Aviary.
