Theatr Gwaun Community Trust

From Griff Rhys Jones OBE (actor, writer and presenter) - I love this little theatrical gem. I have been many times, and I hope you do too. It is an asset for the town and the whole surrounding area. We must all get together to ensure that it survives and I will be there helping in a more positive way soon. Watch this space!

What Does Theatr Gwaun Do?

Theatr Gwaun is a community theatre and multi-arts venue nestled in the heart of Fishguard, West Wales. We offer an all-year programme of theatre, film, live music, comedy, opera and ballet, community talks and regular community group and youth theatre sessions, plus an annual festival. We depend on volunteers to look after the building and our customers, and we rely on grants and fundraising to keep our doors open and put on an exciting programme throughout the year.

From Peter Richards (Director of Fluellen Theatre Company, Swansea) - This wonderful venue is a real gem. Dedicated and enthusiastic management and staff provide an exciting and stimulating all-year-round programme of great entertainment across the media spectrum. The building itself retains the charm of its history, and has served the community well for many years. It is vitally important that this building is financially able to sustain its notable role in South West Wales.

Why Do We Need Your Help?

Since reopening after the Covid pandemic in July 2021, our focus has been on rebuilding our audiences by providing a warm welcome and a fantastic year round programme of film and events. Our returning audiences are enjoying what we do, but current ticket revenue is not enough to support our activity. It is clear that we need more help from our community and external funding to make sure we remain afloat and able to serve them.

From our MP Ben Lake - I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Theatr Gwaun for a warm welcome and for showcasing the impressive facilities available to the residents of Fishguard and the wider community. Theatr Gwaun requires our continued support, and I encourage members of the public to take full advantage of this remarkable and vital community asset.

How Can You Help Us Going Forward?

There are many ways to help. We have a Friends of Theatr Gwaun membership which is just £20 per year and gives you access to discounted film tickets, an Associate Membership for £100+ per year and a 200 Club. Most importantly, you can help by coming to a film or live event one or two times a year more than you currently do, that would be transformational! We also welcome support from those further afield.

How Can You Help RIGHT NOW?

All of those opportunities to help are a great way to keep our community theatre open and thriving going forward, but if we are going to keep the doors open whilst we build that extra community support, we also need help RIGHT NOW. Could you help us by considering a one-off or regular donation? We need to raise £ 30,000 a year to fill our current funding gap so if you are able to support this fantastic community asset that is Theatr Gwaun, please do consider a regular or one-off donation.
