This year, we’ve soared to incredible heights, unveiling captivating shows like James Fritz’s The Flea that have not only garnered critical and audience acclaim but also shattered box office records. NOW 23 festival was a vibrant celebration of talent, new work and some of the best in UK theatre that featured five brand new commissions. We continued to embrace London’s independent nightlife and launched our inaugural in-house club night, marking a new chapter in our creative journey. Amidst it all, we also underwent a digital transformation-marking a new era and enhancing our connection with you-our incredible community that continues to fuel our existence.
Beyond these milestones, we’ve been so proud to be able to continue nurturing the creative odysseys of the young minds in Hackney Wick. Partnering with young people aged 7-21, 78% of whom rely on free school meals, we’ve been continually astounded by their ingenuity, dedication and absolute raw brilliance. They represent a cohort ready to lead the future of our sector and advocate for a more equitable world.
From crafting, rehearsing and staging their work, to accessing professional mentorship, our commitment to our Yard Young Artists is unwavering. Every week, we witness the empowerment of these voices, witnessing their foray into previously unimagined creative careers that fuel our purpose.
It’s all important. It all takes money. And it isn’t cheap.
We never charge our young artists fees to participate, but the reality demands over £60,000 annually to compensate our artists, procure the necessary materials, and keep these groups thriving. We’ve come close, supported by generous contributions from trusts, corporates and individuals, like you, who believe in our cause, and the young minds of East London.
Now, a final push is needed.
This is the season of giving. So we’re turning to you, our strong community of supporters, to seek assistance to bridge the remaining £12,000 gap. With the backing of the Aviva Community Fund, doubling donations up to £250, we’re determined to reach our goal.
Your donation isn't just a financial contribution, it’s an investment in the future of Hackney Wick’s creativity and beyond. Your generosity, amplified by this match, will create a ripple effect, transforming lives and shaping a brighter future, today.
Join us in securing the legacy of this invaluable work by donating today. Your support, magnified twofold by the matching program, will echo far beyond numbers, it will reverberate in the stories, dreams and accomplishments of these young artists.
It’ll mean the world to us, and create a whole new world for them.
