Aim

Grants available to promote the education of young people under the age of 25 who (or whose parents) are resident in Melsonby.

The trust was set up well over 200 years ago by an eighteenth century philanthropist, William Cockin, in Melsonby, North Yorkshire. He endowed the rents from two fields he owned, originally to be used to fund the education of six boys from the village.

Nowadays the trust gives out grants annually to individuals and groups in the village to help with educational projects such as music tuition, swimming lessons, sports coaching, University accommodation and we also give a grant to the village school.
