Aim

Wingham Wildlife Park is launching an exciting expansion project, enhancing animal welfare and safeguarding even more endangered species.

Kent’s most diverse zoo, Wingham Wildlife Park, is undertaking a new phase of development that reflects our ongoing commitment to animal welfare, conservation, education and community engagement.

The expansion will see new, world-class habitats for our growing family of species, along with upgraded visitor facilities and immersive educational zones.

New Homes for Endangered Species

Carefully designed habitats will be built for species such as:

Black Rhinos – critically endangered in the wild, our new facility will contribute to global conservation efforts and support breeding programs for this iconic species.

Pygmy Hippos – these elusive forest dwellers face increasing threats in their native range. Wingham Wildlife Park will offer them a safe and enriching home.

Asiatic Lions – with fewer than 700 individuals remaining in the wild, creating a specialist environment in our conservation-focused zoo is more vital than ever.

These new habitats will not only meet but exceed modern welfare and conservation standards, offering expansive, naturalistic spaces that allow these animals to thrive.

Protecting Kent’s Wildlife

Wingham Wildlife Park is dedicated to the conservation of the natural world and that starts right on our doorstep. This expansion project includes the development of:

Natural Areas – we’ll be creating and managing wild spaces to encourage native flora and fauna, conserving Kent’s biodiversity.

Native Species Programs – two of the UK’s most endangered aquatic species, white-clawed crayfish and glutinous snails, will benefit from a new and expansive breeding facility that runs using harvested rainwater.

How Your Support Helps

Every contribution brings us closer to breaking ground on the new habitats, sourcing sustainable building materials, installing vital environmental control systems and developing an accessible and educational guest experience.

Your kind donations could help us fund:

£5 – seed packets or a plant for a wildflower patch in the natural areas.

£10 – a tool, such as a broom or shovel, for keepers to maintain the new habitats.

£25 – a durable enrichment toy for the Asiatic lions.

£50 – a layer of substrate for a new habitat, such as woodchip for the tiger house.

£100 – a secure feeding rack for the black rhinos.

£250 – materials and installation of climbing apparatus for the big cats.

£500 – specialist equipment such as a water pump for a pygmy hippo pool.

£1000 – major contribution towards the construction of a new habitat.

No donation is too small. Every penny will help us to make The Wild Expansion possible and fund the long-term care of all the animals coming to Wingham Wildlife Park.
