The mission of the Veterans Hub Isle of Wight is clear. To relieve the hardship faced by veterans, current serving personnel, and associated family and friends who have a direct connection with the Isle of Wight, either past or present, in respect of finance, trauma, isolation and well-being.
The Isle of Wight has a high number of Military Veterans living here and over the last few years after long friendly conversations with service personnel both past and present, their families and friends. We found that there was the need for a Veterans Community Hub on the Island.
The Veterans Hub Isle of Wight was initially the idea of veteran Dale Hillier, who served during the Falkland’s War. With the help of two friends who have served our country and community, along with considerable experience of running companies both on the island and the mainland, they felt that they had the perfect skillset to create a working community business. So the Veterans Hub IOW CIC Registered Company No. 13024589 was founded.
We set up a Veterans Lounge in 2021 which acts as a daily drop-in centre for advice and comradeship for any Veteran or Serving member of the Armed Forces and their families. Where Veterans are welcome to pop-in any day of the week and have a chat, a cuppa and a piece of cake in a safe and warm environment.
