The Vale is a warm, friendly creative hub for the local community, run by carnival arts organisation Global Grooves. We're based in Mossley and welcome people from across Tameside and beyond.
At The Vale we run a wide range of activities for local people, including concerts, carnival workshops, dance classes, visual arts, volunteering, training, family fun days. Whatever you're into, there's something for you at The Vale!
As a charity we've been hit hard by the increasing costs of running a community building. But we're also very aware of the impact on our local communities, particularly for people on lower incomes, or those who spend a lot of time at home.
For this reason, we're extending some of our regular activities so that people have a warm, welcoming place to come during the week. Starting in February, we'll be running a weekly 'Community Cafe', on a Wednesday afternooon. Local residents are welcome to come along for a brew and a chat with our friendly team. We'll also share some handy creative and DIY skills, helping us to fix household items or make basic repairs. Together we'll share and learn new skills, whilst saving money too!
The money we raise will be spent on the costs of refreshments and materials for our community cafe, as well as the costs of our freelance creative team who will help to facilitate the sessions and look after everyone. Funding will also cover the overheads and utilities costs of opening up our space. With the support of our community, we can continue running free, warm and welcoming events for everyone!
