Aim

Funding toward a new Community Theatre for Plymouth, to provide and promote affordable access for artists and audiences with daily shows

We're starting a new Community Theatre for Plymouth giving an affordable space for  amateur and emerging professional performers whilst maintaining low ticket prices to allow all the community to access regular good quality theatre, dance and music of all genres. We've secured a lease on a beautiful old chapel in the developing area of Stonehouse and Millbay and need to repair it and equip it as a theatre, including a lift for the elderly and disabled, as the theatre is on the first floor. Seating 120-140 people, with a flexible performance and seating layout, this will be a significant addition to Plymouth's current vibrant arts scene. The Underground Theatre   is a Community Interest Company which means all profits are put back into the theatre and community. There are lots of plans  to engage with the community and TUT is run by local people for the benefit of the whole of Plymouth and its surrounding area. With performances planned for up to six nights a week, they'll be something for everyone, and with its own bar it will become a meeting hub for Plymouth's artists and locals in this rapidly developing cutural corner of Britain's Ocean City. It's going to cost a lot more than £10,000, but we have some funding in place and are applying for grants. What we need right now is money to put in a lift and start intial repairs and equipping. We've some great rewards for donors- read on to see what you could get- the more you give, the more you get!
