17th April 2017We've reached the 3-day target
It's fantastic news we made it to £500, which means the boys will be going up to Koro in May to deliver the Convention. Thanks ever so much to everyone that made this possible in just a week.
Our next much larger target is to raise the money to get our container up to Koro. This container has upwards of 150 boardgames, hundreds of RPG supplements, tables and chairs, plus lots of other crucial items, such as laptops, educational books, sports equipment, children's reading books, electrical items, our generator, farming tools and much more.
Amongst the boardgames we have Ravenloft, Cacao, a number of Monopolies, Mastermind, Hexominoes and so many more I cannot remember. Most of these were donated by well-wishers of the project, though their complexity ranges from very easy to difficult.
Without these, we can still put on the Convention, but we won't have large tables, so this will mean we will have to use mats and play the boardgames on the floor. Similarly, there are 100 chairs in the container and this will be enough to handle those likely to come to the convention each day.
Since we are a charity, we won't be paying duty on these items, but we have to pay a clearing agent, the customs workers, who unload and reload the container and then the lion's share of the cost will be to send the container up on a lorry to Koro, where it will find its resting place.
The container includes a lot more basic and accessible games for younger children and this will help us be more inclusive with the games that we have and these games can be taught much more easily, of course.
We are also raising money independently for this, so if the target is reached early, we will announce here and then all additional money will go to extending the Convention to 7 days. If we reach the second stretch goal, then we will save remaining money to support the next Convention in Kampala in August.
Can you help us reach this next goal?
