16th April 2017New partners on this project
Dear All
Thanks for bringing us nearer our target and long-term aim to start a regular and unique convention in Uganda, which will bring so much to rural youth in Uganda.
We have had interest from Straight Talk Foundation on this project and if we can reach the £500, then they will help us with the organisation and also bring youth connected to their project in Gulu. It is important to bring in partners, as it expands the reach of the event itself, but also gives us more capable people to work with on future events.
We are also partnering with World Vision in Uganda and I hope to be able to confirm soon that they are going to work with us in Northern Uganda on new projects, such as this, that can bring youth together and inspire them to move in new directions.
Board games are so varied and provide new knowledge and information, if used correctly, and we have been surprised how young people are enthusiastic to play so many different types of board game. In this event, we will also be focusing on traditional games too, including the Omweso tournament. Children in this area also know different versions of chess and draughts and, as we know, Uganda youth can become chess champions, as we have discovered in the recent film Queen of Katwe, which is a slum area just a few miles from our Kampala centre.
