The Plan
On behalf of Walk92, a group of friends and I are hiking the Thames Path from Oxford United's Kassam Stadium to Reading's Madejski (Select Car Leasing) Stadium. The route is roughly 45 miles long and embraces the beauty of the Thames River (despite Thames Water's best efforts) whilst exploring two stadiums and clubs not short of controversy, with the bitter rivals’ fortunes currently travelling in different directions.
This three-day journey will raise money for the Joey Beauchamp Foundation (an Oxfordshire mental health charity set up in the wake of Yellow's Legend Joey Beauchamp's death in 2022), and the Thames River Trust, as well as Walk92's founders Sport Local Action and The Street Soccer Foundation.
Of the Money Raised:
25% will go to the Joey Beauchamp Foundation in order to help improve mental health services in Oxfordshire.
25% will go to the Thames River Trust to improve the ecosystem of the Thames River and its tributaries.
25% will go to Sport Local Action's Sport Bank, which helps tackle financial barriers stopping young people from playing sport.
25% will go to the Street Soccer Foundation, helping to utilise football to transform the lives of those facing homelessness.
