THE SUNNYWOOD PROJECT
What is The Sunnywood Project?
The Sunnywood Project is a non-profit outdoor education and events provider.
Combining arts and nature, we promote a love of the great outdoors through a variety of events, conservation and educational programmes stimulating a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle for those living in Bury and surrounding areas.
Through each of these activities and bespoke programmes, we nurture individual confidence and resilience to equip participants with the transferable skills needed for success in life - we are committed to assisting individuals to realise their own potential.
The Sunnywood Project aims:
Each of our educational programmes, events and activities are carefully planned with the following aims in mind:
-To promote compassion, kindness and a positive society
-To encourage maintaining a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle
-To support the development of social skills and self-regulation of emotions
-To enable people to participate in society as mature, independent and responsible individuals
-To inspire challenging, but achievable personal goals
What is The Sunnywood Project Community & Education Hub?
The soon to be established 'Sunnywood Hub' situated within the Burrs Country Park, will have:
- a main classroom & workshop space
- a counselling suite;
- modern toilets and shower facilities;
- and a reception area where enquiries about Sunnywood events and activities can be made.
The Sunnywood Community Hub, based at The Burrs Country Park, will offer a wide range of services and early intervention for young people; families and the wider community as a whole - with the focus being on embracing the outdoors together.
The Sunnywood Hub will promote embracing the outdoors to improve Health and Wellbeing through the varied activities and events in addition to providing a calming alternative education and counselling setting for young people and the wider community.
A core goal of The Sunnywood Hub is the help guide people and families into spending quality time outside and provide guidance to mix modern ideas of play with more traditional values of spending quality time in the great outdoors.
Funds received will contribute to:
- the renovation of the building
- resources and equipment
- delivery of affordable activities
- provision of youth services and counselling
Activities will include youth & family nature engagement; inclusive outdoor adventures and much more - all designed to embrace the outdoors, learn and connect with nature to improve our mental, physical and social wellbeing.
