0The Studio is run by LOOSE and supported by a group of volunteers known as The Studio Associates. They plan events and gigs, paint, plant and create a welcoming environment for all.
Loose is a small local charity aiming to remove the barriers local people experience when trying to engage in the arts, whether that's for their wellbeing or for a career.
The Studio building has been many things in its time , from a Sunday School to and Baby Linen Factory, a sports hall and then a venue. After a period of closure in 2004, LOOSE managed to take the building and bring it back to life, focusing on Music and performance, with 3 rehearsal rooms and a recording studio and a main performance space with 375 capacity and a gallery/bar.
The Studio is an old building and needs constant attention and upgrading.
The Associates want the venue to offer the best experience both for performers and audience so this crowd funder is to raise funds to purchase a new screen and projector that can be used to show films or enhance stage performances through
video.
The current screen/projector has limitations and can’t utilise the full potential of the space the stage provides, so in order to fulfil our vision we need to purchase a new projector and a white Cyclorama the full width of the stage. We believe this will provide a wonderful backdrop to any music or stage production.
The Studio Associates are a group of volunteers who underpin all the events and activities that The Studio provides throughout the year. From keeping The Studio in good order by painting or keeping on top of our garden areas to litter picking in the local area. The Associates also help run activities such as the guitar jam group and provide a helping hand when The Studio hosts concerts or theatre productions
We’re kicking off our fund raising by hosting Studio Summer Sounds, an afternoon of live music provided by local artists.
