Aim
To introduce people to new books and authors as well as, quality and tasty beverages, creating a community that loves to share experiences
Who are we?
We are a team of three friends from very different career backgrounds who want to create an experience around great books and beverages.
What are we doing?
Through a monthly subscription box model we will send customers carefully selected paperback books and spirits or beers (non alcoholic options will be available).
We have spent the past 3 months building an excellent network of suppliers and we are working to the idea of supplying you with the best UK based drinks in Rum, Gin and Whisky that you either cannot get in the shops or would very rarely find. We will be work closely with our suppliers to include information about the books, authors, and producers we work with, telling our customers their story and shining a light on new exciting brands.
The books we provide will all be paperback novels and we will aim to send newly released books to try avoid duplication from your own collections at home and we avoid the top 10 charts for the same reason. The books will all be read by our team before being selected and boxed, every part of this subscription is meant to be a luxury experience and we can only make sure this is the case by reading every book… and trying every drink.
Why are we doing this?
The idea actually come to us during lockdown, all 3 of us are keen readers but during lockdown we found that working from home can be quiet stressful and make it difficult to escape work or escape a cycle of turning off one computer screen and going to another. This cycle is what increased our love for reading further, we found ourselves finishing work or occupying ourselves in Furlough by going to a different room, the park (when allowed) or the garden and trying a drink and reading a book and found it incredibly relaxing and a real escape and we feel like that’s what the experience should be. So we decided to share this experience with all of you and take a bit of stress away from the day to day and make book and drink selection easier by posting it to you each month.
What is this Crowdfunder and how does it differ to the normal service?
This Crowdfunder is a way for us to help promote the brand and get the business up and running. This is an excellent platform to get the word out and get more people in to “The Spirit of Reading”… yes we had to get the word play in there.
The Crowdfunder is either a donation or a reward of a 1 off box or 6 month subscription for you to sample and be the first to get your hands on the product. The normal business after this month when you receive your reward box September 30th will have its main focus on subscriptions so you sign up for an open ended amount of time but will be able to cancel at any time. You will also be able to buy non subscription boxes in the form of 1,3,6 or 12 months as a gift but this will be at a greater cost as we will rely on our subscribers to plan stock orders and get the lowest possible cost and we pass this discount straight on to them but they will make an excellent gift so please look out for the “Gift a Subscription” tab.

Ethics
We want to support our local communities, encouraging live readings and tasting sessions with local independent venues and producers. We are also looking to partner with charities that focus on providing books and literacy opportunities for our local disadvantaged young people and school children and we will look to do this by donating a percentage of our profits to local causes chosen quarterly.
