The Space needs YOUR help!

The Space exists to help – to help the local East End community, and to help provide accessible events, workshops and spaces to all. It’s part community arts space, parts pay-what-you-can/decide cafe, parts music and arts venue. Walk into the Space and if you need food, we will give you what we have. If you need a dry and safe space, come on in. If you need access to feminine hygiene products, take what you need. If you need access to the internet, we can do that - basically if we have it, and you are in need? It's yours, no questions asked.

But now we need your help. Covid-19 has affected us all, and we know times are tough. There is so much uncertainty and fear about the future. We are completely self-funded, everything we do is paid for by our events or rental fees from our studio holders, but due to the current Covid-19 situation we are running out income by the day and unfortunately we will not be eligible for any discounts on our rent.

The majority of our staff are volunteers and for the past 5 years we have attempted to make a difference to not just the East End, but Glasgow in general. We are asking for anything you can spare to Save The Space. Any support you give us will ensure that we can pay our rent and keep the doors to this vital resource open and fighting another day. Keeping the door open will ensure that the volunteers and customers that have come to rely on the Space will have this lifeline once the lockdown is over. As well as keeping the Space open we would love to support anyone in need. We regularly deliver food and books to vulnerable people including the elderly. This part of the Space is very Grassroots, but if we know about someone in trouble we will be at your door and will help if we can.

A lot of organisations like us are looking for help right now, even some charities that are bigger and more well-known are asking for support. But here is the reality, The Space doesn't get funding, any money made goes straight back into our resources to help anyone that needs it. Whether that is hosting a fully accessible completely free monthly festival, providing a meeting space for recovery groups, hosting sober events and raves for the sober community, providing free workshops for kids, providing a free Christmas dinner every year for anyone that needs it, providing meeting and events space for different abilities, running a community shop providing vulnerable people with food for 50p per item.

We know that the worst affected during this crisis will be the vulnerable and we do not want them to be without our support. If you can donate, please do.

Love The Space x
