Launch a beachfront mobile woodfired sauna bringing people a safe space to improve their physical and mental wellbeing in Lee on the Solent.

Who I am

I'm Georgina and I moved to Hampshire from London right in the height of the pandemic and haven't looked back!

My life has changed for the better, realising the importance of the need to look after ourselves. I started by braving sea swimming, took to the kayak and then tried the paddleboard. I went on holiday to Bridport, Dorset with my uni girls and we came across the Seaside Sauna Haus (www.seasidesaunahaus.co.uk), Sarah and her team inspired me. It was a game changer! A dedicated space with friends where in one afternoon I felt revitalised in body, mind and soul. The awakening of the cold fresh sea and the deep warmth of the sauna, I couldn't get it out of my head. Why was there no sauna in this beautiful place where we live? 

Why a sauna here?

So I bring to you The Solent Sauna a luxury mobile woodfired sauna made from sustainable cedar wood. The Solent Sauna will be situated beach side and provide a place to relax and enjoy the scenic views of the Solent. The Solent Sauna is a unique idea for the area. 

The Solent Sauna will be a community facility, enhancing the foreshore at Lee on the Solent. It will raise the profile of the Borough to residents and visitors alike by providing the social value of a place for people to socialise and meet new friends, reducing social isolation.

Lee on the Solent is a thriving place for business, The Solent Sauna will support and serve the Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus by providing a leisure and recreational activity to enhance homes, community facilities and will be a visitor attraction. 

There is a strong evidence base of the health and wellbeing benefits that The Solent Sauna will bring. The Solent Sauna will provide people with a sense of personal fulfilment and promote a healthy lifestyle.

It is proven to improve mental and physical wellbeing by reducing stress and anxiety (Lieberman), eradicating body toxins, improving heart health (Laukkanen et al), improving deeper sleep (Putkonen and Elomaa), helping to fight illness (Ernst et al), decreasing memory disorders (Bredesen and Patrick) and extending life (JAMA Internal Medicine).

The Solent Sauna is a quality leisure opportunity to improve their fitness and health of people. The welcoming atmosphere provided by The Solent Sauna will increase footfall at Lee on the Solent by attracting people to the area. 

What is your money for?

This Crowdfunder will allow The Solent Sauna to purchase a sauna similar to the images below and a trailer to tow it - a first rate commercially built sauna.

The sauna will seat 6 people at a time, with changing facilities. It will have a state of the art iki sauna stove, to efficiently burn wood and heat up to temperature within 45mins of being lit. 

The Crowdfunder will support The Solent Sauna in the start up costs needed to get the correct insurance and licences, as well as rental space for keeping the sauna safe when not trading. 

This project closed unsuccessfully on 5th July 2023
