Funding a new play for Edinburgh Festival, THE SHARK IS BROKEN, about the filming of JAWS. Written & performed by the son of Robert Shaw.

Shooting The Breeze, a UK based theatre company run and founded by Ian Shaw (War Horse, Johnny English), David Mounfield (Count Arthur Strong, This Is Jinsey) and Duncan Henderson (2018 Fringe Review Award Winner) are staging a world premiere theatrical production of THE SHARK IS BROKEN, a play about the relationships between the three stars of Stephen Spielberg's legendary movie JAWS, written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon (Big Daddy v Giant Haystacks, Those Magnificent Men).

After outstanding reviews and awards at the Brighton Festival with various shows over the last seven years, we are seeking funding to mount two new shows at the largest and most prestigious Arts Festival in the world - Edinburgh.  Directed and presented by the world renowned Guy Masterson (12 Angry Men, Under Milk Wood and Olivier Award winner for Morecambe) - who has produced over 150 shows there over 25 years.

Synopsis: For much of the filming of JAWS the mechanical shark was broken, and the three stars, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider, found themselves quartered on the Orca - the famously small shark-hunting boat -  for hours on end awaiting their scenes. The play, inspired by the private diaries of Robert Shaw, hilariously reveals the true relationships, the secret clashes and intrigues behind the legendary movie.

In repertory with THE SHARK IS BROKEN, we are also presenting a reworking of our award nominated five star show, NEW YORK STORIES (Broadway Baby Best In (Brighton) Festival) by Damon Runyon, featuring further tales of the well-loved characters from GUYS AND DOLLS.

"These three are among the finest actors I have seen on the Fringe.  They nailed it! What a night, what a show, what a crowd!" (The Latest)

"The characters remind me of Kurt Vonnegut's Cape Cod world, and there are hints of Woody Allen humour here as well. What marks it out as high quality is that it is never overdone. They've pitched it near on perfectly as theatre." (Fringe Review)

All funds raised will go towards the costs involved in mounting these productions. Any donations of £100 or more will be rewarded with 2 complimentary tickets to the shows during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and post show drinks with the cast in the VIP bar.
