Aim

A year-round programme of exhibitions, workshops and talks exploring environmental change through art, science and community.

Every day we hear about climate change, biodiversity loss and the environmental challenges facing our world. Yet for many people, these issues can feel overwhelming, distant or impossible to influence.

The Shape of Change was created to change that.

Based at MOTE (Museum of the Environment), our vision is to transform environmental learning into something hopeful, creative and accessible.
We believe that when people create together, learn together and share ideas, real change begins !! Through art, science and community, we're creating a place where curiosity replaces fear and everyone leaves feeling inspired to make a difference…no matter how small.

Our museum is powered by volunteers who are breathing new life into a remarkable historic building. But MOTE is about far more than preserving a building…..it's about creating a space that belongs to the community.

We want MOTE to become a thriving community hub where people can meet, learn, create and collaborate. A place where local artists, makers, musicians, researchers and environmental organisations can share their work, connect with new audiences and grow alongside one another.

By providing affordable exhibition opportunities, workshops, talks and events, we're hoping to create a platform for local creatives and small businesses to flourish while inspiring thousands of visitors each year.

The money we raise will help me to organise free community workshops, ensuring that everyone can take part regardless of their financial circumstances. From creative family activities and artist-led workshops to environmental talks and hands-on learning experiences, these sessions will bring people together, reduce isolation, encourage wellbeing and help visitors discover practical ways they can make a positive impact on the world around them.

We're also raising funds to make MOTE accessible to everyone. As a historic building, it presents challenges, and one of our biggest priorities is renovating our lift. This will enable wheelchair users, people with limited mobility, older visitors and parents with pushchairs to access every floor of the museum. We believe creativity, education and community should never be limited by physical barriers.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us move one step closer to that vision.

You're not simply funding a museum, you are helping to create opportunities for our local community.

Together, we can create a museum that doesn't just tell the story of our environment…..but one which  helps shape its future.
