Hello, we are Amy and Liz and are both sewing enthusiasts and dressmakers. Our plan is to offer classes in a warm and friendly environment for people to learn how to sew and further develop their sewing skills. This is where we need your help; we need to fully equip our classes with sewing machines, irons, cutting mats, thread, fabric and scissors among other useful tools.
Our classes will initially be pop-up classes in various shared locations in and around West Lothian and Edinburgh. We will offer a variety of projects from sewing home furnishings like cushions, aprons and oven gloves to garments such as dresses, jumpers and skirts, for all levels and ability. The classes will be for children from 8 years old and up, and adults. In the future we plan to have our own multi-purpose studio in which to run classes and expand the business into selling fabric and sewing accessories.
We know from personal experiences that sewing can really help improve your mental health. We want to offer the opportunity for people to try sewing for the first time or to come back to sewing by holding sewing events in local communities and talking openly about mental health and how sewing can help.
We want to make sewing more inclusive no matter your gender, age and background. We will attempt to do this by having a wide range of sewing classes available, having open days where people can come and use our machines and try a bit of sewing. Also we want to encourage open-mindedness by reaching kids at an early age, before firm habits have developed.
As most of us know our beautiful planet is getting destroyed by our fast pace throw away lifestyle. We want to help educate people on how they can make small changes to stop this from happening. We plan to do this by holding classes to show how to reuse, recycle and repurpose old clothes and fabric.
We are both very passionate about sharing our love for sewing and the many advantages it has.
"I cannot praise this class enough. My daughter absolutely loved it. The teachers were there to help if needed but did let the sewers get on with it themselves so the sense of achievement was incredible. Fantastic class." - Debbie D
"I had so much fun and can’t believe that I made my new favourite bag! Thanks again and I’ll definitely come again!" - Stephie Phipps
"Had a really good night making a tote bag with Hannah Boden. Very impressed with how professional our bags look! Relaxed and friendly class - thanks for a great night!" - Jennifer Boden
