Help us launch a cafe with West End Refugee Service - providing a place for great food, conversation, training and development.
by Rachel Fenton in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
On the 7th February 2024 we'd raised £6,380 with 152 supporters in 69 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Further donations will allow us to expand The Seven Bridges and train and develop more volunteers from West End Refugee Service.
Now we have hit our target that allows us to do good things like improve decor, buy training for volunteers and upgrade some small kitchen equipment like blades.
Our stretch target is designed to help us go up a few notches, massively improving the visitor experience and increasing our capacity to support the volunteers.
For example, a donation towards the stretch target, getting us to dream bigger, helps with:
Larger equipment upgrades e.g. extra refrigeration
Front of House: Comfortable chairs
Training: Increase the number of volunteers able to access the training through The Seven Bridges.
Thank you so much
In a unique collaboration, Dance City and West End Refugee Service (WERS) have come together to create a brand new world kitchen concept – The Seven Bridges.
Our vision is to be a place where great food and drink offers the context for conversation. At the heart of The Seven Bridges lies a deep commitment to empower refugees and asylum seekers through training and development opportunities.
With a menu created in collaboration between our Head Chef and WERS volunteers, we’re aiming to showcase the rich techniques and traditions of those who volunteer there, whilst enabling them to improve existing, and learn new skills, and gain experience which will become a stepping stone to future employment.
We need your help with the first phase of development. Your donations will allow us to:
Our aim is to provide high quality training and an experience which equips volunteers to step into a career in catering or hospitality when it is right for them. Our goal is to support dozens of volunteers in the near future.
The Seven Bridges will be a warm community space in a building dedicated to participation in, creating and enjoying dance. It will have a real social impact locally and provide somewhere new, exciting and different to eat for those living, working and visiting Newcastle.
