£2500 would cover most of our running costs for a whole year. Enabling us to feel confident we can continue to deliver a warm, welcoming place to anyone who wants to access good quality food for free.
Who are we?
We opened in April 2022 as a way of helping families and individuals in food poverty to gain access to good quality and nutritious food. We were the first Hubbub Community Fridge to open in Nottinghamshire and we also had funding from Nottinghamshire County Council. When we started the pantry, it was run by just two volunteers, but this has grown to a team of 15.
How does it work?
We take surplus food from Co-op, local allotments, individuals and businesses. We also pay a small amount each week to secure food from FareShare, the food redistribution charity..
There are two sessions per week with no barriers to who can come and no charge, helping those experiencing difficulties due to the current cost of living crisis, those experiencing social isolation or anyone in the community who wants to reduce food waste.
Why we are are Fundraising
We are passionate about keeping the pantry free for our visitors so we need to fundraise a small amount each year to pay for insurance, consumables and our FareShare delivery. Extra money would also allow us to increase the amount of long life items we can distribute and in turn enable us to help more households.
