We're still collecting donations
On the 31st January 2022 we'd raised £563 with 8 supporters in 115 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We want to address the lack of positive news in the media by bringing more inspiring and uplifting stories to the public every day.

On the 31st January 2022 we'd raised £563 with 8 supporters in 115 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The Rooftop is the online home of positive news worth shouting about. We aim to address the lack of positive news that the public hears about, by shining a spotlight on inspiring stories about issues that matter and campaigns that make a difference.
We are an independent community interest company (CIC), founded in 2018, which is dedicated to celebrating the amazing achievements of smaller charities, social enterprises, community interest companies, public sector organisations, trade unions, and individual campaigners, whose voices often go unheard by the mainstream media.
Our daily stories cover topics ranging from education to climate change, and community projects, and from employment to mental health, and human rights.
In 2020, to keep up with the growing demand for positive news, we expanded our offering by introducing Rooftop TV and The Rooftop News Podcast. And in 2021, we hired our first official employee as part of the government's Kickstart scheme.
The current mental health crisis that has been caused by the pandemic means that the public is crying out for positive news, amongst the barrage of negativity that has constituted the news cycle for the past eighteen months.
A study by Mind in June 2020 revealed that three out of five adults and two thirds of young people in Britain said their mental health declined during lockdown.
According to the study, one of the most common ways people managed their mental wellbeing during the lockdown was to minimise consumption of news, namely negative news.
The public’s appetite for positive news has seen The Rooftop’s weekly content views soar by a staggering 184 per cent since the arrival of the pandemic. With a current reach of more than 500,000 content views per week across our website and social media, the demand looks set to continue.
To enable us to empower and inspire even more people, and to keep up with the public demand for positive news, we are asking for donations to our Crowdfunder for The Rooftop, which we will use to grow and improve our offering in 2022.
All funds raised will be invested in the continued development of the website, The Rooftop News Podcast and Rooftop TV, the creation of a regular newsletter, and to hire an editorial assistant – our first ever official employee.
No donation is too small – each and every contribution will help The Rooftop thrive in 2022, allowing us to share more positive stories to even more people who need to hear them.
