Aim

Raising funds for 'The Quiet Artist' from pre production, filming and through to festival submission, this is entirely independent.

In 2024 I lost my dad. The only way I've known how to process grief throughout my life is to write about it, create art, and to tell the story for others to connect and resonate. Ultimately, to lighten the load that I carry and with the hopeful aim to make sure others feel that their experience is heard too.

This film 'The Quiet Artist', although fictional, was inspired heavily by my late father, also named Jack. This topic aims to delicately explore the story of what happens to the quiet artist inside of all of us when we cannot give it the attention it deserves. How we unconsciously lose our sense of self when needing to provide for our families where money and time are hard to come by.

We follow the life of a working class man, husband and father. Two children and a wife that depend on him financially to provide for the family, often by working multiple jobs. These jobs are never glamorous or highly skilled but are needed to provide money for his family. Whilst the frustrations and difficulties of trying to provide persist we see his true artistic passion and skill fall to the way side. His love of art, the thing that reminds him he alive. The parallel life that falls silent with the consuming need to provide dominates.
