To develop 'The Place’ as a self-sustaining intergenerational project, delivering services not already delivered under one roof.
Development of the ‘place’ as a self-sustaining project will be based on demand.
We plan to deliver services not already delivered under one roof within the local, or, wider area, i.e. day centre activities, Dementia friendly sessions, invited guest sessions, activities regular afternoon teas, Sunday lunches etc.
These are all activities we can do now! Longer term the plan is to start a small project group which will work in the fields of trades and/or gardening, small works, and perhaps offer ‘pre-loved’ furniture at affordable prices.
Free/cost-price children’s meals are also planned, longer term.
The Place will have a role as a training environment, as well as a ‘place’ for individuals and small groups to meet.
Also, we have a plan to role out the AMICA service.
AMICA is a private service of support, which will be run from the premises, for those in need of intermittent ‘on-demand’, step-down’ care - following illness or hospitalisation - of contact/help/assistance with ‘simple everyday tasks to allow them to carry on living independently. Tasks which appear small to the majority of us, can become a real problem if individuals are not able to carry them out, or, there is no one available and able to assist them.
A Café/Bistro will provide a ‘different’ outlet for residents of all ages. We are confident that activities for adults which revolve around social events, will integrate the younger and older members to form a ‘cross-generational community’ environment of trust and respect.
Sustainability
Each person accessing the café/bistro services will become a member for a nominal yearly fee. Pricing will be set very competitively due to the fact that we run the hub as a CIC. We are part of the Fareshare family, and, we are also able to bulk purchase.
Customers of the Café/Bistro, need to be members to benefit from our service. Their permission being secured prior to the membership being issued. The collection of their personal information will be limited to name and contact information. It will be gathered under the GDPR regulations, used in line with these regulations to update members on events, and, disposed of in line with these regulations.
We ask for your support to 'Kick-start' this adventurous project.
