We're raising money to build a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) suitable for tennis, 5-a-side football and basketball.

We're raising money to build a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) suitable for tennis, 5-a-side football and basketball. We are literally kickstarting a community sports revolution in Rhosneigr and we'd really appreciate your help.

Clwb Chwaraeon Rhosneigr or Rhosneigr Sports Club (RSC) is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise Company, registered with the LTA. It was established on March 1st, St David's Day, 2021 by an experienced team of six enthusiastic, local volunteer directors to revitalise a neglected old tennis and bowling club on the outskirts of the village. Rhosneigr is a busy village, renowned for sporting activities and, as much of the site is unused, RSC has exciting potential. The directors’ mission is therefore to redevelop the facilities and introduce additonal sports to broaden the appeal of the club and create an inclusive, modern, vibrant, multi-sports hub. They have received widespread support for their plans which will provide year-round exercise and learning opportunities through grassroots sport and community activities.

Since it opened in late April 2021, the new RSC has attracted over 300 Pay & Play online bookings and more than 110 members of all ages; the club's twice weekly social tennis and bowling sessions make it easy to find new friends and games. The club has also worked with an LTA tennis coach who gave lessons to local primary school children from Ysgol Rhosneigr. Throughout the summer the coach also taught individuals and groups, and during the summer holidays 120 children took part in a series of super-fun 6-hour Tennis Camps. The large bowling green has also been used for HITT circuit training classes.

The new RSC is already very successful. The old sports facilities are dilapidated though, especially the busy tennis court. Rather than waste money on a temporary fix, the directors want to replace it with a modern Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) suitable for 3 sports: tennis, 5-a-side football and basketball. The MUGA's carpeted surface will also open up the site for disability sports. Together, these improvements will bring even more energy and diversity to the club and breathe a whole new life into it; that's why our MUGA project is called Prosiect y Ffenic / The Phoenix Project.

The MUGA project will cost almost £60K. Everything that's needed to complete the project is in place and a specialist contractor is lined up ready to do the work.

‘Hero projects’ like this can transform lives and communities. Every donation, large or small, will make a BIG difference and a gift from you today would be much appreciated. It will certainly be put to good use, and our video is a great way to see what has already been accomplished.

Thank-you for reading and (should you choose to do so) for donating.
If you'd like to know more about the club, please visit the RSC website .
